Summary
From time to time I take on a little side work to keep my creative juices flowing, this was one that I took on in 20015. Havana Central have been a client of mine for years now and came to me to bring their site back up to date.
Under the Hood
I decided to strip down the whole WordPress theme and build one from scratch based on an Underscores.me starter template. To keep the code base tidy, I installed a minimal set of plugins to handle some of the heavy lifting (Events Calendar and Open table reservations). The rest was all custom using a grunt configuration for CSS and JS so everything is minified and neat.

The Result
With all the code cleaning the site ended up being faster than 41% of all tested websites by Pingdom. Site is always being updated and is still being expanded upon but the code base is solid. But most of all, the client was super happy with the result.
