Newsday Redesign

VIEW PROJECT

Client:

Newsday Media Group

Summary

Newsday, like any news site’s bread and butter, is the content. Users spend most of their time reading articles throughout the site. When we planned to revamp the whole digital offering of Newsday.com display we had a couple of KPIs in mind.

  • Ad View-ability
  • Page Speed
  • Legibility
  • Increase Engagement

Starting with this as the base we completely overhauled the display of the site using some learnings from our extensive user tests and the Google AMP project, we optimized the articles for fast loading by inlining CSS and deferring below the fold assets. We also implemented a highly viewable ad slots at the bottom of mobile pages and a sticky ad on the right for desktop/tablets which helped increase overall ad view-ability from < 30% to just under 70% resulting in increased CPM.

Under the Hood
